BY GEOFREY KASERA: What was meant to be a day of relief for families in Nyando Sub-County turned horrific on Wednesday afternoon after a 32-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death during an altercation that erupted nearby.
The victim, identified as Evan Ouma Otieno, succumbed to multiple severe stab and cut wounds following a violent disagreement that broke out among a group of young men in Konyako Village.
The incident occurred at around 2pm during a public event led by area Member of Parliament Jared Okello.
Local residents had gathered at the primary school for the distribution of relief food supplies and constituency bursary disbursements intended to support the locals.
While the distribution exercise was underway within the school compound, a misunderstanding erupted among a group of youth that gathered a short distance from the venue.
The disagreement quickly escalated into a violent physical fight.
During the brawl, Evan Ouma Otieno was attacked with a sharp object, sustaining severe injuries across his body:
Preliminary report indicate that the deceased ha two deep cut wounds on the head and one on the forehead, two stab wounds to the chest, and two stab wounds on the buttocks.
The area Assistant Chief of Kamayoga Sub-Location, Rose Oguya, reported the incident to the authorities.
Officers from Rabuor Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) alongside detectives from DCI Nyando, immediately rushed to the scene.
The body of the deceased was transported to the Ahero Sub-County Hospital Morgue, where it awaits an official autopsy.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the attack.
